US sanctions 12 Kaspersky Lab execs for working in Russian tech sector – Insta News Hub

The Treasury Division’s Workplace of Overseas Property Management (OFAC) has sanctioned twelve Kaspersky Lab executives for working within the know-how sector of Russia.

These sanctions got here after the Biden administration introduced yesterday the ban of sales and software updates for Kaspersky antivirus software within the USA, which began in July, over potential cybersecurity dangers to nationwide safety.

As well as, the Division of Commerce designated AO Kaspersky Lab and OOO Kaspersky Group (Russia), and Kaspersky Labs Restricted (United Kingdom) to the Entity Record, stopping any US enterprise from conducting enterprise with them.

“All of the people beneath had been designated pursuant to E.O. 14024 for working within the know-how sector of the Russian Federation economic system,” reads the OFAC announcement.

Immediately, OFAC introduced sanctions on twelve Kaspersky Lab staff in management positions. The twelve sanctioned Kaspersky staff and their positions are:

  • Andrei Gennadyevich Tikhonov (Tikhonov) – Board member and CFO.
  • Daniil Sergeyevich Borshchev (Borshchev) – Board member and Deputy CEO of Technique and Economics
  • Andrei Anatolyevich Efremov (Efremov) – Board member and Chief Enterprise Improvement Officer (CBDO)
  • Igor Gennadyevich Chekunov (Chekunov) – Board member Chief Authorized Officer (CLO).
  • Andrey Petrovich Dukhvalov (Dukhvalov) – Vice President and Director of Future Applied sciences
  • Andrei Anatolyevich Suvorov (Suvorov) – Head of Kaspersky Working System Enterprise Unit
  • Denis Vladimirovich Zenkin (Zenkin) – Head of Company Communications
  • Marina Mikhaylovna Alekseeva (Alekseeva) – Chief Human Assets (HR) Officer (CHRO)
  • Mikhail Yuryevich Gerber (Gerber) – Government Vice President of Client Enterprise 
  • Anton Mikhaylovich Ivanov (Ivanov) – Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
  • Kirill Aleksandrovich Astrakhan (Astrakhan) – Government Vice President for Company Enterprise
  • Anna Vladimirovna Kulashova (Kulashova) – Managing Director for Russia and the Commonwealth of Unbiased States (CIS)

Whereas many of those members report on to the CEO, Eugene Kaspersky, the US authorities says they haven’t sanctioned Kaspersky Lab, its guardian or subsidiary firms, or its CEO.

The Treasury Division says that the staff are sanctioned pursuant to Executive Order 14024, which states that individuals decided to work within the know-how sector of the Russian Federation can fall underneath sanctions.

“to function or have operated within the know-how sector or the protection and associated materiel sector of the Russian Federation economic system, or some other sector of the Russian Federation economic system as could also be decided by the Secretary of the Treasury, in session with the Secretary of State,” reads the Government Order.

These sanctioned have had their belongings within the US frozen and may not entry them till the sanctions are lifted.
